I don’t know about you, but I like to think I’m an organised person. I don’t think I’m impulsive, but at the same token I like to accept challenges and am never afraid of hard work….well little did I know that some of this statement is true and that other areas make me out to be a liar! I shall endeavour to explain
I’ve been working really hard on getting myself organised for the often gruelling Christmas season, painting and designing Xmas catds, ordering and transforming Christmas decorations
Prepping for several events at the same time is always difficult, but it’s become even more complicated
And the reason why….I’ve taken on three days of teaching too! That’s where it appears I am impulsive
First of the events that I have been prepping for was….an invite to exhibit with Made In Colchester at the beautiful Church Street Gallery in Saffron Walden

The fabulous Daisy Courtauld has curated the most beautiful exhibition space. It was a real privilege to be part of this spectacular gallery along with a variety of artists in this ad hoc collective
And then next on the events list was our club’s exhibition at Metal in Chalkwell Park

What a successful and enjoyable event this truly was

It’s always a joy when I am surrounded by likeminded people, with a common aim…to celebrate something special and in my case that is creativity
As SAC’s Social Media Secretary, I am often engaged in the promotion of events and members’ work,; so therefore it was so good to hear that the often maligned Social Media had worked so well to promote a really positive event
The event, which involved meticulous preparation, was the first under the direction of our new Chairman Teresa Cutmore and Exhibition Secretary Andy Downes
To my delight and surprise, I sold two paintings. On a personal note it was very successful. But it was a success for the club too. Paintings sold, commissions taken and interest in joining the club
Members hired boards, to curate their own work
For the first time members were able to show 3D work and prints
This diversity was so exciting and the event was a huge success

And then then on to the first Christmas fair of the season with Folk & Bespoke

And it was a good one. Always concerned that these events won’t be much of a success…but there’s always something good that comes from them….connections and meeting lovely humans
Sometimes you make decisions that you don’t realise at the time can have a profound impact on aspects of your life. Joining Lloyds Art Group was one of those decisions
It’s not often that you get a chance to sketch at Shakespeare’s Globe

What a treat and a free one too. Truly special
Followed by a delicious lunch at The Swan next door. Meeting and chatting with fellow artists is always interesting and this was definitely the case on this trip

Earlier in the year, Jules Hart & Ali Bournes, two very talented local artists, imagined an artistic event. This would be to coincide with another local artistic event, Hadleigh Old Fire Station Open Studiis, Castlepoint Open Artist Studios
Initially, I was hoping to open my workspace to invite the public in. But for a multitude of reasons this wasn’t possible
However, kindly, they were able to accommodate me as an exhibiting artist
Lots of work from a variety of artists. And a very successful event too
Next year definitely though!

Next event with good pals and lovely interaction with the public

Whilst at a fair in Colchester, a couple of my arty friends took some of my work for a pop up exhibition in Billericay

And it doesn’t stop there
Next on the list for 2023….Lloyds Art Group and Concrete Wall Exhibition at Twenty One Southend

Pictures and write up to follow
Exhibition at Twenty One Southend until the end of the year

For now I shall sign off and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Nee Year
See you all in 2024
