“On The Way To Grandma’s House”

What a fabulous and long hot summer we’ve had.

I don’t know about you….but I’m ready for the Autumn and all that brings. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve really enjoyed the gorgeous weather, however we are so fortunate to live in a country with definite seasons.

Let’s go for a quick roundup of recent events.

Past and future events

A summer full of birthdays, anniversaries, jam making and exhibitions.

One of the highlights was High Roding Art Exhibition. I was so privileged to be invited to participate in this prestigious event.

The charity evening was absolutely delightful. A perfect evening, including the weather. The location and curation was sublime. Art work was of such high quality and I felt as if my work was not out of place.

The two Sarah’s are just wonderful. They’re so welcoming and supportive. I’m so happy to have been included in this annual event. Really looking forward to next year already.

That was then and this is now….so what’s next?

As one of the organisers of Castlepoint Artist Open Studios, this annual event is high up in my consciousness.

This is an arts event through out the borough of Castle Point in partnership with Hadleigh Old Fire Station (HOFS). There is an exhibition at HOFS, an art trail through Hadleigh and Open Studios. I am delighted to be opening my home again over two weekends, 4th/5th 7 10th/11th Oct.

I will be showing not only my new work, but also the work of my good friend Nicola Upton, mosaicist & glass artist.

So looking forward to all the various events and saying hello to old and new faces over the weekend.

I will have lots of new work for you to see and chat about. There will be cake and tea too. So if you can, please do drop in.

Lloyd’s Art Group Exhibition

Then there is the amazing Lloyd’s Art Group winter exhibition at Lloyd’s Old Library between 24th-27th November. I’ve got my application in and am looking forward to it.

I’ve decided to take things a little easier with the run up to Christmas. Normally I will be at various fairs etc. This year, however I have taken the decision to prioritise myself. So there are a number of breaks scheduled. Which I am really looking forward to. Recharging the batteries and resetting for the next year.

That doesn’t mean that Im not looking forward to new opportunities. This year I have applied for a number of open calls, which unfortunately I have not been successful in. Rather than deterring me, this has spurred me on to apply in a more considered way. I’m waiting to hear back from a couple, so fingers crossed.

I’ve also been pretty busy updating my website. Why not have a look at my new look shop or added series.

Definitely a work in progress as ever. I’ve managed to work on 3 different websites, which is a huge learning curve for me!

Commissioned pet portrait

I know I’ve mentioned Christmas already, but this is the time to get prepped for those less than easy to buy for loved ones. I’ve got availability in my schedule for commissioned pet portraits. If you’re interested email me on info@nicolaosborneart.com

Thank you for taking the time to read my newsletter.
